Primary School

The Primary department is divided into two sections Lower and Upper Primary:
Lower Primary covers from pre-reception (age 3) to Year 2 (age 6/7)
Children cover subjects and the atmosphere is one in which learning is designed to be fun and vibrant. Many media of educational teaching concepts are used to ensure that each child develops in all areas. Alongside Montessori style teaching is more a conventional style Numeracy, Language and Literacy scheme incorporating the importance of reading and Spanish. The children also have a phonic letter of the week in which the parents are encouraged to help their child to find and bring to the school objects beginning with that letter for the display. Children also have half termly Topics from which Science, Knowledge of the World, PSHE, Art and Creative Development are taught.
Upper Primary covers Key Stage 2, Year 3 to Year 6 and follows the British National Curriculum. All subjects are taught by dedicated staff, who have a real passion for their subjects. Subjects are taught by specific teachers who seek to recognise and develop individual giftings, whilst encouraging students to progress in areas where they may have weaknesses. We have a strong emphasis on Spanish and ICT. Children enjoy Physical Education at the local sports centre, make use of the local library and go on educational trips.
